The failures we actually see, and what to do about each
TikTok fingerprints the client and serves a JavaScript challenge to anything that does not look like a real browser. We impersonate a current Chrome-on-macOS TLS fingerprint to get past it, and TikTok changes what it accepts without notice.
Wait a minute and retry — these blocks are often transient. If every TikTok link fails for hours, our impersonation profile has gone stale and needs updating server-side.
There are two different marks. The drifting @username overlay is added by TikTok when it renders a copy, and we avoid it by fetching the source. Anything the creator burned in while editing is part of the picture itself.
Captions, stickers and a creator's own logo cannot be removed — they are pixels in the frame. If you see the drifting overlay, the clean source was unavailable and the rendered copy was used instead.
We fetch videos the way a logged-out visitor would. If a post needs an account, a follow approval or a friends-only relationship to view, there is no public file to reach.
Nothing on our side. The same applies to deleted posts and to accounts that have gone private since the link was shared.
TikTok slideshows are a set of stills with an audio track, not a video stream. There is no video track for us to save.
Only posts with a real video track can be downloaded. Slideshow support is not available.
TikTok restricts some posts by country, and our server has one fixed location. If the video is not published in that region, the request comes back empty.
